Terms of Service
These terms are an agreement between you and Scorch for using the website and app (together, "the service"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them, to our Privacy Policy and to the Community Rules. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
1. Who can use it
You must be at least 13 years old. If you're under the age of adulthood where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission, and they agree to these terms for you.
2. Your account
- Keep your password and recovery code private. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
- One account per person. Don't create accounts with bots or scripts, or to farm coins or points.
- Your username is public and other people can find you by searching it. Pick one that follows the Community Rules; we may change or remove usernames that don't.
3. Friends, chats and groups
- Friends and direct messages: direct messages are only between friends, so someone has to accept your friend request first. Removing a friend stops new direct messages between you.
- Group chats are private to their members, who may include people you aren't friends with. Members can add their own friends and rename the chat. The person who made it (its owner) can also remove members.
- Public groups can be found and read by anyone signed in, and anyone can join. Group owners can edit their group, delete messages in it and remove members. We run some official groups ourselves.
- Game chats and play chats are public to everyone viewing that game.
- Messages are not end-to-end encrypted. See the Privacy Policy for who can see what.
- Blocking someone hides their messages from you and stops them from adding you or sending you direct messages.
4. What you post, including photos
- You own what you post (messages, comments and your profile photo). You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to store, display and share it within the service, only so the service can work as described, for as long as it's on the service.
- Only post things you have the right to share. Your profile photo must be of you, or something you own or have permission to use. Don't post photos of other people without their permission.
- You're responsible for what you post. It must follow the Community Rules and the law.
- We may remove or hide content, and suspend or ban accounts, that break these terms or the rules.
5. Coins, points and items
- Crates give a random item, and you can only open them with coins you earned in the game.
- We may change prices, items, rewards and how points are earned. We may reset or remove coins or items earned through bugs, cheating or rule-breaking.
- If your account is deleted or banned, its coins and items are gone.
6. Picks, trivia and predictions are just for fun
Picks, over/unders, "Call it", Blitz, trivia and group pick standings are free games for points and coins. Betting lines and win probabilities are shown for information only. Nothing on the service is betting, gambling, financial or professional advice, and the service doesn't take bets.
7. Sports data and team names
Scores, plays, stats, lineups, injuries, standings and odds come from third-party data providers and may be delayed, incomplete or wrong. Don't rely on them for anything important. Team and league names belong to their owners. The team badges and player icons in the service are our own designs. Scorch isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any league, team, player or players' association.
8. Reports, moderation and illegal content
- You can report messages, comments and profile photos in the app. Moderators review reports and decide based on these terms and the Community Rules.
- We don't review everything posted, and we aren't responsible for what other people post, but we act on reports and on anything illegal we become aware of.
- We remove child sexual abuse material immediately, report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), and ban the account. We may also report threats of violence and other illegal activity to law enforcement, and we respond to valid legal requests.
9. Copyright complaints
If you believe something on the service infringes your copyright, contact us at support@getscorch.app with: your name and contact details; what work you think is infringed; what content on the service infringes it and where it is (for example, the username and chat); a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized by you, your agent or the law; a statement that your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you're the owner or authorized to act for them; and your physical or electronic signature. We'll remove infringing content, and we end the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe.
10. Don't misuse the service
Don't try to break, overload or hack the service. Don't scrape it in bulk, access other people's accounts, get around bans, blocks or limits, or use it for anything illegal.
11. Changes and availability
The service may change, have downtime, or stop. Features can be added or removed. We may update these terms; if a change is important we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. Using the service after a change means you accept it.
12. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Account settings. We may suspend or end accounts that break these terms, the rules or the law.
13. Disclaimers and limits of liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, Scorch isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, lost data, or anything arising from relying on sports data or on content posted by other people. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
